An award-winning writer and director and producer, Dean is co-founder of DrAx Productions a genre specific production company based in the UK. Horror is definitely his thing but is also moving into the period drama space. He is current Chair of the Writers Directors Producers Branch (BECTU); London Production Division Rep (BECTU); Co-Chair - South East Region (WGGB); Film Committee Rep (WGGB). He is also member of the International Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences and is a Sundance (Collab) Institute alumni. He is currently writing a Cannes ‘Diary’ about his many visits to the Cannes Film Festival and his dream of entering a film (potentially the French project he is working on about the poet Rimbaud) into the 80th edition in 2027.

Dean produced the 2025 short film ‘Black Time’ (writer/director Sharon Axcell) which has screened in several festivals and has obtained its first distribution deal. ‘The Devil Is In The Detail’ a recent short which he wrote/directed starring Kevin McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean; Valkyrie) and Dion Marcos (with Richard Carnaby) has also secured distribution; it was semi-finalist at the Cannes Indie Shorts; screened at Birmingham Horror Festival and Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival (also received nomination for 'Best Editing').
